CS Muturi attacks Ruto again after the killing of 2 mlolongo abductees

Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has called upon President William Ruto to take immediate action against the alarming trend of abductions and extrajudicial killings in the country. Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Muturi described the ongoing disappearances of young Kenyans as “gruesome” and warned that if left unchecked, these acts could plunge the nation into chaos and anarchy.

The sentiments by the cabinet secretary in the Kenya Kwanza government comes just a day after two bodies of youths abducted in Mlolongo last year were traced at the Nairobi Funeral home (city mortuary). The late Justus Mutumwa and Martin Nzyuko Mwau were amongst the four youth that were abducted in Mlolongo mid-December.

Muturi emphasized that this is not just a matter of policy; it deeply affects families who are left to mourn their loved ones without answers. He recounted the agony faced by parents and relatives who have searched for their missing loved ones for over 40 days. He poignantly questioned the country’s focus on economic discussions while young lives are being lost to violence and horror.

Muturi directly addressed President Ruto, urging him to act decisively to end the culture of abductions that has become disturbingly normalized. Muturi proposed the establishment of a public commission of inquiry to thoroughly investigate these heinous acts. He called for inclusive participation from various sectors, including legal, religious, and human rights organizations, to ensure that the truth comes to light.

As he highlighted the emotional toll of these incidents, Muturi stated, “We must put ourselves in the shoes of the grieving parents.” His impassioned plea resonates widely as Kenyans seek assurance that their government prioritizes the safety and welfare of its citizens. The tears of the affected families are testament to a nation plagued by fear, and it is high time for leadership to restore hope and justice.
