Kenya Kwanza Chief Whip Sylvanus Osoro has announced intentions to impeach Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi, accusing him of blackmailing the government amidst rising abduction cases in the country.
Addressing attendees at an education event at Nyamarambe Grounds in South Mugirango, Osoro criticized Muturi for publicly criticizing the government instead of addressing concerns directly with President William Ruto in Cabinet meetings.
Osoro presented Muturi with three options: resign, issue a public apology, or face impeachment when Parliament reconvenes. Meanwhile, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has confirmed that most abduction cases are still under investigation and pending legal action. They revealed that only Leslie Muturi, the son of the Cabinet Secretary, has provided a statement regarding his alleged abduction, urging Justin Muturi and others with relevant information to come forward.
“The case involving CS Justin Muturi’s son is currently active with DCI Kilimani. Since only the son has voluntarily recorded a statement, we invite CS Muturi and anyone else with information to provide a statement to DCI Kilimani,” the agency stated.
Additionally, the DCI noted that several inquiry files are nearing completion and will soon be forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) for further action. This development highlights the ongoing concerns surrounding public safety and governance in Kenya.
