City beats Man United 2-1 to lift FA trophy

Manchester City overcame gritty Man United by beating them 2-1 to lift FA trophy in a tight final that pitied United neighbours.

Manchester City pulled the first blood in less than fifteen seconds of the game to put the new Premier League champions ahead. The fastest goal of this season saw United keeper David De Gea fail to stop the volley by City captain Ikay Gundogan.

United quickly came to the game by disorganising the much fancied City’s midfield – which comprised of Ikay Gundogan, Kevin De Bruyne, and Rodrigo.
Manchester United equalised through Bruno Fernandez after Man City’s Jack Geenish handled the ball inside their 12-yard box, which earned United a penalty after a check by (VAR) Video Assistant Referee.

Both teams went to the halftime break with identical goal margin. Second half was not inspiring either, as both teams were coutious of not letting in another goal.
Then City got a faul near the corner flag, which was taken by Dr Bruyne and converted again by the German midfielder, Gundogan, after he was spotted by a Kevin De Bruyne’s freekick. The midfielder didn’t wait for the ball to touch down, as he connected a feeble shot, but De Gea did so little to push it from entering the net, which dimmed United’s hopes to lift FA trophy.

The win means that City have so far bagged two silverwares this season – and still awaiting next week’s UEFA Champions League finals when they will meet Italian giants Inter Milan next week. City won EPL league last week, after overthinking Arsenal, which had stayed at the top of the table for more than three quarters of the season.
