US President Joe Biden has fired a warning shot at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, threatening to withdraw any support.
The warning is on a condition that should the latter continue with his indiscriminate bombardment of Iran, the American leader would have no option but to withdraw any manner of support to the Middle East country.
The US president is said to have made the remarks to the Israeli prime minister in April, after Iran attacked Israel.
“Let me be crystal clear,” Biden was quoted as saying by the New York Times. “If you launch a big attack on Iran, you’re on your own.”
“You do this and I’m out,” he added after Netanyahu pushed back.
There had been fears that the Iranian attack on Israel – which itself was heavily signposted and followed an Israeli attack on Iran’s consulate in Damascus – would spiral into an all-out war between the two adversaries.
Israel never publicly claimed a small follow-up attack on Iran, which the Iranians said was launched from inside the country.
