Mikel Arteta believes that winning the League Cup could serve as a launchpad for more trophies as he marks five years in charge of Arsenal.
The Spaniard, who secured the FA Cup in his first season in 2020, has seen a trophy drought since, despite coming close on several occasions.
Currently sitting third in the Premier League, six points behind leaders Liverpool, Arsenal prepares to face Crystal Palace in the quarter-finals of the League Cup on Wednesday, just three days before another match against the same opponent in the league.
Arteta emphasized the importance of a cup run, stating, “Winning builds momentum and creates a different atmosphere around the team.” He underscored that lifting the League Cup would be a significant boost for a club that last won the Premier League in 2004. “It brings belief, trust, positive energy,” he added.
The League Cup final is set for March 16, 2025, at Wembley. When asked about potential changes to the squad for the upcoming match, Arteta said he would determine the best team to field based on the squad’s condition and the significance of the match.
As momentum builds, Arteta is focused on guiding Arsenal back to winning ways and reigniting their trophy ambitions.
