Kenya Power restores Electricity after nationwide outage

Kenya Power (KPLC) has announced the restoration of electricity supply following a significant outage that left much of the country in darkness early Wednesday morning.

The utility company confirmed the outage in a notice at 1:28 a.m., indicating that most regions, with the exception of some areas in Western and Rift Valley, were affected.

Approximately six hours later, KPLC reported that power had been restored to all impacted areas. “We are pleased to report that power supply has been restored to all the affected areas following a widespread outage. We thank our customers for their patience during the restoration exercise,” the company stated in a notice at 7:35 a.m.

This outage not only disrupted electricity supply but also led to reduced internet connectivity across the country. As Kenya Power serves over 9.6 million customers, the incident highlights ongoing challenges with power reliability that have plagued the country over the past year.

KPLC continues to address these issues as it works to improve service reliability for its customers. The power shortage comes at a time when Kenya cancelled the Ketraco deal that had been awarded to the Indian tycoon Mr. Adani.
