The Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti alongside the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai appeared before a joint committee of the Senate Security Committee and the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee on 23rd of September 2020 after being summoned over Kakamega Senator, Cleophas Malala assassination claims.
Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala on the 14th of September 2020, wept at the Senate claiming that his life was in danger. He accused the DCI of forming a Special Service Unit to assassinate him over his stand on the revenue sharing formula.
DCI Boss George Kinoti has denied the claims saying they are of no basis and of ill intentions against the DCI. George Kinoti before the joint Committee wants Cleophas Malala to apologize to the DCI as a whole or face Arrest and charges of giving police false information.
Senator Malala earlier wrote to the Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Matiang’i, DCI boss George Kinoti and the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai requesting for additional security for him and his family and also for the investigation of the alleged Special Services Unit.
