Rueben Kiborek Reacts After Phone Theft in Bomet Burial Event

Mogotio Member of Parliament Kiborek Rueben expressed his dismay after thieves stole his phone in Bomet.

In a statement posted on his social media on April 30, 2026, the first-term MP recounted the incident during his visit to attend the burial of Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir’s father. He humorously referred to the culprits as “sharp boys” and playfully requested the return of his phone, offering a reward.

“Why would you steal my phone, Bomet residents, when you are my people? Sharp boys,” he remarked. “Lawyer Hillary K. Sigei, CBS, please help me get it back; it’s good to reward talent.”

This incident follows the recent theft of Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga’s phone during a women’s empowerment forum in Saboti on August 3, 2025.

Hosted by Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, the event attracted a large audience, including several regional leaders. Amisi alerted attendees about the missing phone and urged anyone who found it to return it, emphasizing the importance of respect for guests.

“MP Majimbo Kalasinga has lost his phone here; please, young people, the Honorable is present. He came to contribute, but his phone is missing. If you have it, please return it to him; let’s show respect to our guests,” Amisi stated.

In a related event, Mogotio MP Kiborek attended the emotional burial of Mzee Edwin Kipchirchir Koech in Kipketii, Bomet County, on April 30, 2026.

President William Ruto led a distinguished group of government officials, governors, and local leaders in honoring Mzee Koech, who was recognized for his disciplined parenting and the prominent family he raised. President Ruto praised his contributions and extended condolences to the Chirchir family, particularly to CS Davis Chirchir and his mother, Mama Rachel.

The burial gathered political leaders who celebrated Mzee Koech’s legacy and the values he imparted to his family. Family, friends, and community members shared heartfelt memories of a man admired for his wisdom and quiet strength.
