ODM to Launch Nationwide Youth Campaign with Nairobi Mega Convention

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) will launch a significant youth mobilization program with a mega youth convention in Nairobi on Monday, April 20, 2026. This event marks the beginning of a 25-county outreach campaign aimed at bolstering the party’s grassroots presence in preparation for the 2027 General Election.

On Saturday, April 18, 2026, the party confirmed the details of the mega youth convention via its official X account.

This announcement follows the Central Management Committee’s (CMC) recent decision to embark on nationwide tours to promote the Orange Party.

This initiative forms part of a larger strategy to energize supporters, particularly among young people, and to reinforce ODM’s political identity, which has been established since the party’s inception in 2005.

During a statement delivered by ODM Acting Secretary General Catherine Omanyo on Thursday, April 16, 2026, after a CMC meeting in Nairobi, party leaders committed to intensifying mobilization efforts throughout the country. Omanyo underscored that this initiative aims to strengthen ODM’s organizational structures and extend its influence in key strongholds and beyond.

“At the conclusion of our discussions, the central committee resolved to undertake a vigorous campaign to popularize and fortify our party across all regions,” Omanyo stated, emphasizing the necessity of expanding the party’s identity.

As part of this initiative, ODM confirmed that youth conventions will serve as a cornerstone of the engagement program.

The Nairobi youth convention on April 20 will kick off a series of county-based gatherings designed to energize young supporters and recruit new members into the party.

The next major youth event is scheduled for Mombasa on Sunday, April 26, 2026. After these initial gatherings, the party will take a brief two-day hiatus for a joint parliamentary group meeting before announcing subsequent youth-focused activities in the remaining counties.

ODM has also mandated grassroots elections in regions where they have not yet occurred, as well as in areas facing unresolved internal disputes. These reforms aim to ensure the party’s organizational readiness ahead of the 2027 elections.

Omanyo reassured supporters and the public that ODM will conduct free and fair nominations, asserting that the process will not favor any individuals. The party also highlighted that the youth conventions aim to revitalize its base and promote internal democracy.

The Nairobi youth convention is poised to attract hundreds of delegates, youth leaders, and party officials as ODM embarks on its nationwide political mobilization effort.
