UDA Mourns MP Johanna Ng’eno After Mosop Air Crash

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno, recognizing him as a steadfast legislator and a courageous advocate for public interest.

According to UDA, Ng’eno’s leadership exemplified humility, integrity, and an unwavering sense of purpose.

“Ng’eno emerged as a fearless voice for his constituents and a dedicated servant of the people, consistently championing the aspirations of ordinary citizens with conviction and sincerity,” stated the party in a message signed by Secretary General Hassan Omar.

Omar emphasized that Ng’eno’s untimely passing represents a profound loss not only for his family and the residents of Emurua Dikirr Constituency but also for UDA and the entire nation.

“Kenya has lost a devoted patriot, a steadfast legislator, and a courageous defender of public interest whose leadership was characterized by humility, integrity, and an unwavering sense of purpose,” Omar added.

Tragically, Ng’eno was among six individuals who lost their lives in a helicopter crash in Chepkiep, Mosop Constituency, Nandi County. The lawmaker and his aides were aboard the aircraft at the time of the incident.

Reports indicate that the helicopter attempted an emergency landing before it burst into flames.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula confirmed Ng’eno’s untimely death. In an official notification to Parliament on Saturday, February 28, 2026, Wetang’ula announced that the lawmaker, along with five others, perished in the crash at approximately 4:45 PM.

“It is with profound sorrow that I inform the House and the entire Parliamentary fraternity of the untimely and tragic demise of the Member of Parliament for Emurua Dikirr Constituency, the late Hon. Johana Ng’eno Kipyegon, CBS, MP,” the Speaker conveyed, extending condolences to the families and friends of the deceased. “May their souls rest in eternal peace.”

Born in 1972, Ng’eno was serving his third consecutive term in Parliament, having first been elected in 2013. He held the position of Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Housing, Urban Planning, and Public Works, and was an active member of the Liaison Committee.

During the 12th Parliament, he served on the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee. Under his leadership, the Housing Committee was instrumental in the passage of the Affordable Housing Act, 2024, which established a framework for access to decent and affordable housing in Kenya.

Ng’eno’s educational background included studies at Mogondo Primary School and Maseno National School, followed by advanced studies both locally and internationally. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Law from Kyiv TSN University, a Master of Arts in International Studies from the University of Nairobi, a Bachelor of Laws degree from Mount Kenya University, and a Post Graduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law.
