Amisi Questions High School Placement as Parents Seek Top Schools

Saboti MP Caleb Amisi doubts Kenya’s high school placement process. Parents of 2025 KJSEA students have kept messaging him. They want the MP’s help to place kids in prestigious schools.

On January 2, 2025, Amisi posted on his X account. His inbox overflows with pleas. Parents seek spots at schools like Nairobi School, Alliance High School, Lenana School, Starehe Boys’ Centre, Kenya High School, Moi Girls Eldoret, Mang’u High School, Maseno School, Kabarak High School, Loreto schools, Kapsabet Boys, and St Joseph’s Kitale.

He shared sample messages. “Hi Mwesh, Happy New Year. Please get a spot for my son or daughter at Nairobi School, Lenana, Alliance, Starehe Boys, Moi Girls Kamusinga, Mang’u, Loreto, Kapsabet High, Kenya High, Maseno, Kabarak, St Joseph, etc. He or she scored [points].” These hit every hour, he said.

Amisi asked about the fair placement system. It was meant to assign students to schools without hassle.

He remembered his own start at Starehe Boys’ Centre in 2001. Back then, placement felt steady. Less worry for parents and kids.

“Why did the fair high school placement change since I joined Starehe Boys in 2001? Why does the Ministry of Education leave parents to hunt schools alone for top students? Kenya needs big changes!” he posted on X.

This comes soon after President William Ruto’s promise. On December 28, 2025, at Covenant Church International in Narok County, Ruto said every child gets a senior school spot in January 2026.

The church marked its 20th year. Ruto noted the government gave out Ksh44 billion. This covers placement and fees for all.

He warned against politics in schools. “I tell those pushing small politics and false talk into kids’ education to stop. People with petty schemes and empty brokers want to drag our children into pointless politics. Go push that elsewhere,” Ruto said.
