Three Kenyan referees will handle the action as the 2025 African Cup of Nations continues on Friday, December 26, in Morocco.
Peter Kamaku leads the crew. Gilbert Cheruiyot and Stephen Yiembe join him. They take charge of the Group B match between Angola and Zimbabwe. Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. at Stade de Marrakech.
Kamaku acts as the center referee. Cheruiyot serves as the first assistant referee. Yiembe is the second assistant referee for this early game.
These three made the cut from a pool of officials for the 2025 tournament. They work at the ongoing AFCON events.
Each brings skill in their role. Kamaku has handled big events like the 2019 U17 World Cup, AFCON matches, and CAF Champions League games.
In past assignments, Stephen Yiembe and Gilbert Cheruiyot got picks as assistant referees. Dickens Mimisa joined the Video Assistant Referees for the tournament.
Before this match, Kamaku worked as fourth official in South Africa vs. Angola. South Africa won 2-1.
Kenyan officials get help from Morocco’s host crew and Sudan’s Abdulaziz Yasir. He leads VAR control room work with his assistant.
