Nassir Urges ODM Unity Amid Internal Party Divisions

Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir called on Orange Democratic Movement members who hold different views about party leadership to step forward and talk.

On Wednesday, December 25, 2025, Nassir spoke about the split opinions in the party. He showed strong belief that the long-standing party would overcome the trouble. It would let down those eager to see it fall apart.

He pushed all leaders to guide efforts for calm talks and fixes to disagreements.

We will not let our party @TheODMparty weaken from inside. This party belongs to its members. As leaders, we must protect their needs and serve our country best. Share different ideas or plans out in the open and in a helpful way. We did that when we said we aimed to form the government. True leadership means being honest, brave, and answerable, not hiding things. he said.

The governor backs keeping the broad-based setup in the Kenya Kwanza government. He repeated that the party stays put.

In 2027, we will save this country from within the government. We will soon share our path forward. I ask those who think we should talk with Ruto’s government before the 2027 election. We can’t stay in opposition always. he said.

Nassir spoke just days after ODM leader Oburu Odinga warned against mixed messages from party members. This came after the party picked a clear path.

On Tuesday, December 23, 2025, Oburu said that once ODM agrees on a direction, all must follow it and speak as one.

Oburu said.

Siaya Senator Oburu, who stepped into party leadership after Raila Odinga’s death, stressed his style of talking with members first. He reaches deals through talks.

But he stressed that all must stick to the path once they agree.
