Man Drowns in Migori, Crime Incidents Reported Across Kenya

A 20-year old male drowned while bathing in a river located in the Nyatike area of Migori county.

According to police, Brian Omondi Deya was bathing in River Migori, located in the Munyu area, when he slipped in and eventually drowned.

His body was subsequently removed from the scene and transported to a nearby mortuary, awaiting an autopsy and further procedures.

The area has seen an increase in such incidents, prompting police to advise caution to prevent them. According to the police, one person is among two who lost their lives in the area due to drowning on Tuesday.

In Awendo area, still in Migori, a 16-year-old boy lost his life in a river after being involved in an accident. According to the police, the incident occurred in the Kanyaserega area, and the body was taken to the mortuary while awaiting further procedures.

In Chinga’s Kagicha area of Nyeri county, police are searching for a gang that attacked a road construction site and damaged several vehicles.

The gang also physically assaulted guards on duty who were securing the S S Mehta Construction Company site along the Kagicha-Muirungi Road.

The police stated that the gang in a salon car stole 14 batteries from the machines on site and two starters.

Security personnel were discovered bound in a room and subsequently freed. Authorities are currently probing the occurrence.

In the Mai Mahiu area of Nakuru County, a driver had his lorry stolen by four men who had disguised themselves as loaders.

On a Tuesday afternoon, the driver had joined a feeder road to the quarry area when the four individuals boarded it, consistent with the typical pattern.

When he got near the quarry, the four men turned out to be thugs and took control of the Fuso F1 lorry.

According to police, they drove to the Mutarakwa area, then abandoned the driver on the road before speeding off to an unspecified location.

The police have stated that the search for the lorry is still in progress as of Wednesday.

In Kenya’s Nakuru County, specifically within the Kiugoine area, a gang burglarized a Kenya Power and Lighting substation, stealing copper wires valued at an unknown amount.

A group of approximately five people assaulted the on-duty guards, then vandalised the property and stole their valuables. According to police, the incident took place at dawn on Tuesday in the Kalunga area of Kabatini.

According to the guards on duty, the gang managed to bypass the electric fence by cutting it, allowing them to access the station, where they then restrained the guards using wires and physically assaulted them.

One of the guards was injured in the assault and transported to a nearby medical facility for medical attention.

The police stated that the gang managed to escape through the same fence, with ongoing attempts to track them down.
