Wrestling Icon Hulk Hogan Dies of Cardiac Arrest at 71

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has confirmed the death of legendary professional wrestler Hulk Hogan, aged 71. Hogan passed away at his home in Clearwater, Florida, following cardiac arrest. WWE released a heartfelt statement mourning the loss of one of its most iconic figures, saying, “Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s” and extended condolences to his family, friends, and fans.

Hogan rose to fame in the 1980s, becoming the face of professional wrestling and a household name. His unforgettable bodyslam of Andre the Giant and his record-breaking title reigns helped define the golden era of WWE (then WWF). Known for his charisma, signature bandana, and booming catchphrase “Whatcha gonna do when Hulkamania runs wild on you?”, Hogan’s influence extended far beyond the ring.

Throughout the 1990s, Hogan transitioned into film and television, starring in movies like Mr. Nanny and Suburban Commando, and later appearing in reality shows such as Hogan Knows Best. His reinvention as “Hollywood Hogan” in the nWo faction cemented his status as a transformative figure in sports entertainment.

Despite his achievements, Hogan’s career was marred by controversy. In 2015, WWE terminated his contract after a leaked recording revealed him using racist language. Though reinstated in 2018, the incident left a lasting impact, with several WWE stars expressing discomfort over his return.

In recent years, Hogan made sporadic public appearances, including a controversial cameo on the debut episode of Raw on Netflix in January 2025, where he was met with boos. He also appeared at political rallies, maintaining a presence in the public eye.

Health concerns had surrounded Hogan in recent months. He underwent neck surgery earlier this year and had previously revealed undergoing over 25 surgeries in the past decade, including multiple back, knee, hip, and shoulder procedures.

Tributes have poured in from across the wrestling world. Ric Flair, Hogan’s longtime friend, expressed shock and sorrow, calling him “an incredible athlete, talent, friend and father.”

Though his legacy is complex, Hulk Hogan remains one of the most influential figures in wrestling history. His contributions to the sport and pop culture will be remembered by generations of fans—especially the devoted Hulkamaniacs.
