Ugenya member of Parliament David Ochieng who is also Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) party leader yesterday hinted possibility of him supporting former Rarieda mp Nicolas Odero Gumbo.
Ochieng’s decision comes days after withdrawal of his close confidant Ugunja mp Opiyo Wandayi, on Thursday Wandayi made it official that he will seek to retain his Ugunja parliamentary seat, Wandayi said he had listened to the voices of the people.
Gumbo who was narrowly beaten by Rasanga Amoth in 2017 and lost a petition seeking nullification of election of Rasanga has been doing door to door campaign.
It’s however not clear whether Gumbo will contest on an MDG ticket or as an independent candidate as he did in 2017. The former PAC chairman who was ranked best at his tenure as Rarieda mp believes he is best suited to correct the mess in Siaya county.
Early this year rowdy youths disrupted the burial of former Gem mp Jakoyo midiwo claiming ODM was the cause of the problems witnessed in Siaya currently. In response ODM party leader Raila Odinga assured all aspirants that ODM will conduct free and fair nominations
