Truphena Muthoni Receives Guinness Record Badge for 48-Hour Tree Hug

Truphena Muthoni now holds her official badge from Guinness World Records. It honors her record of hugging a tree for 48 hours straight.

The badge names her the record holder for the longest time hugging a tree. This puts her in the group’s worldwide books.

Guinness says she set the mark on February 2, 2025.

The paper reads: “Longest marathon hugging a tree is 48:00:00 hours. It happened in Nairobi, Kenya on February 2, 2025.”

The badge shows the group’s seal. It proves she is a true record holder.

She had to keep touching one tree the whole 48 hours. Any break would end the try.

Guinness checks claims with care. They look at proof, times, and papers before okaying them.

The badge means her effort passed all tests by their rules.

“New Year brings my official Record Breaker Badge,” she posted on Facebook.

Her feat joins many others in Guinness books. They cover all kinds of human wins.

In an earlier talk, she said she did it to show how tree hugging helps mind and feelings.

She trained over five months. That meant 42-km walks, strength work, and 12-hour practice hugs to build endurance.

Her time beats the old mark of 24 hours and 21 minutes. A 23-year-old Ghanaian reporter, Abdul Hakim Awal, set that at a tree-hug event near Kumasi Cultural Centre.

Awal had topped Uganda’s Faith Patricia Ariokot and her 16-hour run.

Awal pushed green causes. He planted one tree per minute hugged, for 1,461 in all.

After her 48-hour win got approved, Muthoni said: “It’s finally home. My 48 hours for longest tree hug are in the books. Thank you, God. Thank you, Kenyans, for support. Now I wait for the 72 hours non-stop tree hug to get recorded.”

Her latest 72-hour try is still being checked. Guinness has not approved it yet.
