Deputy President Williaom Ruto has called on elected leaders to focus on the service delivery to the citizens, saying that election campaign periods are still far away.
Speaking at the burial of the late athlete Ben Jipcho on Friday 31st July in Trans – Nzoia County, the Deputy President urged political leaders to refrain from early political campaigns ahead of 2022 elections, as this will only lead to a division among Kenyans on the tribal lines. “This is not time for politicking, but time for all the elected leaders to deliver services to Kenyans.” Ruto said.
He also noted that the current political division among the leaders is a threat to the economy and those dividing Kenyans for their 2022 political quests should stop and instead concentrate on the performance to their respective offices.
The Deputy President and his allies has been accused by leaders from the Kieleweke faction of the Jubilee party of engaging in early 2022 campaigns and not focusing on development.
