Sakaja shows up late for gubernatorial debate

UDA Nairobi County gubernatorial candidate Senator Johnson Sakaja showed up late for the Nairobi gubernatorial debate held at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa.

The event started promptly at 8 pm after a break following the initial debate that featured Mr. Kenth Nyamwamu of UPA, Herman Grewal of Safina Party, Nancy Wambui of Usawa Party and Esther Waringa of Independent.

Sakaja’s main opponent and Azimio La Umoja coalition’s Polycarp Igathe came on time and dominated the first 15 minutes of the debate and took a swipe at Sakaja for lack of discipline by showing up late adding that he could not be trusted to run the city of Nairobi.

Pressed on why he showed up late for the debate, Sakaja was unapologetic and said he wanted to give his opponent the advantage of starting early. Sources however told Nyanza Daily that Sakaja planned to attend the debate on time but had to attend to some last minute emergency.
