In a strategic move to bolster leadership in key state positions, President William Ruto announced fresh appointments to various State corporations and Kenya’s foreign missions on Thursday. The changes were communicated by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei.
Among the notable appointments, former Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has been named Kenya’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON). This follows the reshuffling of Cabinet positions in recent weeks.
Immediate former ICT Cabinet Secretary Margaret Nyambura Ndung’u, who has transitioned to the role of High Commissioner to Ghana, was replaced by ex-Kiambu County Governor William Kabogo. Additionally, Dr. Andrew Karanja, who previously held the Agriculture portfolio, has been appointed as Kenya’s Ambassador to Brazil. Amb. Gertrude N. Angote has also been assigned to the High Commission in Zimbabwe.
In a further move to enhance governance, former Laikipia Governor Ndiritu Muriithi, who chaired Raila Odinga’s campaign during the 2022 presidential election, has been appointed Chairperson of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Board. He succeeds Anthony Mwaura, who has been appointed to lead the Kenya Rural Roads Authority.
