Protests at Kibos Sugar following an accident involving the Company’s car

Kibos Sugar Company is counting losses after protesters stormed the company, causing heavy damages, following a weekend accident that involved the company’s car.

The car is allegedly said to have caused the accident on Kibos road, claiming three lives on the spot.  It is said that the car belonged to the factory’s owner who, according to the locals, must have paid the police to cover up the matter.

Lawyer Kennedy Omollo said that the person arrested was not inside the car, and this could be the reason why the locals thought that the case was being protected by the police.

“The suspect was arrested and released on bond. We have reported to the police that the person arrested was not driving the car which caused the accident”. Omollo said.  The Tuesday 21 protest also caused a heavy traffic snarl – up along Kibos road as well as ceasing business operations within the area.
