
Azimio La Umoja leader Raila Odinga on Wednesday 29th March held talks with Delaware Senator Chris who is heading a delegation from the US to Kenya.
After the meeting Raila tweeted “Had a great meeting this evening with US Senator Chris Coons and his delegation to discuss developments in our country. We had a fruitful discussion on the importance of upholding the constitution and the rule of law, and agreed to keep the channels of communication open.”
Coons also met Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua who confirmed he had hosted a delegation from the US led by Coons and discussed issues to do with trade, security and democracy.
“This morning, I hosted a delegation from the US led by Senator for Delaware, Christopher Andrew Coons for consultations towards strengthening ties between the two nations, especially in trade, security, democracy, among other key issues of mutual interest,” read a tweet from the Deputy President.
In 2018. Senator Coons pushed for the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and then opposition leader Raila Odinga after the 2017 disputed presidential election. The Senator was also in the country last year immediately after the August 9th elections.
