Raila Odinga denied access to DCI headquarters

Raila denied entry at the DCI headquarters.

Azimio leader Raila Odinga was on Tuesday denied access to see former interior cabinet secretary Dr. Fred Matiangi at the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) headquarters.

The ODM leader had gone to the DCI offices at around 3 pm accompanied by a number of leaders amongst them Kisii senator Richard Onyonka and Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna to check on Matiangi who was detained with lawyers since 8 in the morning.

However the the hawk-eyed security manning the gate refused to allow them entry and told Raila that he was under firm instruction not to allow anybody including him to access the DCI headquarters.

However, Raila could not take those sentiments and demanded to know why he was being denied access to a public office. He also threatened to have his people force their way inside if they did not cooperate.

“This is a public office. You want me to order these people to open this gate? How can I not be allowed to see the director? What kind of instruction is this? This is a public office and I have a right. What law is that?” Said the visibly angry Raila.

Mr Matiang’i was summoned for grilling in relation to a recent alleged raid at his Nairobi home.
