President Ruto begins a 3 day tour of Nyanza

President William Ruto is scheduled to begin a three day tour Kisii, Migori and Nyamira counties from 23rd-25th March 2023. According to Statehouse Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, the president will launch several road projects during his visit as well as attend the home coming ceremony for Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu.

Some of the projects to be launched by the president include the upgrading of the 33.3km Gekano-Rigoma-Amabuko road, as well as Nyabohanse-Kumumwamu and Nyaburu-Oboke-Ragwe roads. He will also commission the Kegati water project in Kisii and proposed affordable housing project in Sironga, Nyamira county.

On Friday, the President commission the construction of Gamba-Kegogi Road in Nyamira before moving on to Ritacho Primary School in Nyaribari Masaba constituency for the homecoming ceremony of CS Machogu.

On Saturday the head of state will hold a leaders’ meeting at the Kisii State Lodge then depart for a day-long tour of Kuria West and hold meetings in Motemorabu in Nyabohanse and then move to Kuria East for meetings at Taranganya and also visit the Ntimaru-Nyamitaro one-stop border post.

Hussein, who was leading the distribution of subsidized fertilizer and farm inputs in Kisii is part of the advanced team in the region. He announced that some 1,061,152 50kg bags of fertilisers had been bought by farmers at the subsidised price of Sh3,500 per bag, throughout the country, with the transacted amount standing at Sh3.7 billion. He announced that 250,831 50kg bags are still in stock, with 1,037,019 e-vouchers having been issued.

Ruto’s tour of the region comes at a time when Azimio leader Raila Odinga-the region’s political kingpin is leading anti government protests against his 6 month old administration.
