Police Vehicles used to ferry Narcotics, MP claims

Maragua MP, Mary wa Maua yesterday claimed that police vehicles are being used to transport narcotics in Murang’a County.

” I have in the recent past complained to the county security committee about police vehicles being used to ferry marijuana in my constituency. I have gone out of the way to provide details about one particular vehicle that is used to distribute drugs to college students and adolescents in Makuyu area,” she said.

She further noted that on more than one occasion a GK-plated vehicle has been spotted near Murang’a Teachers Training College gates and Ciumbu town.

Mary also stated that ambulances and private cars belonging to some of the county “higher -ups ” are involved in the vile act.

Murang’a County Commissioner Mohammed Barre noted that he was aware of the concerns raised by the MP and that there was a similar report from Kabati area Kandara Sub-county where there is a marijuana depot, said to be under lock and key by the men in blue.

“These are grave concerns by uniformed officers and we will have to get to the root cause of the matter, ” said the commissioner.

On Friday, the Deputy Inspector General of Police Edward Mbugua had a meeting with the county bosses where the MP made the claims.

Mr. Mbugua gave the Murang’a County Police Commander, Josephat Kinyua until Monday to probe the concerns raised.
