Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi pulls out of Siaya gubernatorial contest

Ugunja member of Parliament James Opiyo Wandayi has announced that he will not be contesting for Siaya gubernatorial seat. Instead, the Legislator has announced that he will put his focus in serving the people of Ugunja.

The parliamentary account committee chairman who doubles up as Orange Democratic Party secretary for political affairs said he made the decision after lengthy conversation within the party and with the people of Ugunja.

Wandayi who is the first member of Ugunja constituency which was created after the promulgation of 2010 constitution has had a good track record, initiating a good number of projects including KMTC, Ugunja Rwambwa, road among others.

The race for ODM party ticket now remains between Siaya senator James Orengo and former police spokesperson Charles Owino. Former Rarieda mp Nicolas Gumbo is yet to declare the party he will use.

Governor Rasanga Amoth is finishing his second term and will not be legible to contest as per the law.
