One person killed in Kisumu Azimio demos

Police in Kisumu shot dead an anti-government protestor on 27th March during the second demonstrations organised by Azimio coalition.

The killing brings to two the number of the dead after William Mayenga, a third year student at Maseno University, was shot dead during demos around the institution.

The identity of the dead man wasn’t revealed but witnesses told Nyanza Daily that he was shot in the leg and the chest with the bullets exiting from the back. According to the Chief Executive of the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital Dr. George Rae, the body was taken to the mortuary by the police. “One person was shot dead, a young, unknown male in his early 20s. The police brought him and left him in the morgue.”

Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o and his deputy Mathews Owili had earlier led a team of protesters in Kisumu city and were seen speaking and waving to a mammoth crowd Monday morning while atop his car accompanied by a number of leaders.
