Ngunjiri Dismisses Gachagua’s Impact in Mt Kenya

Former Bahati Member of Parliament (MP) Kimani Ngunjiri has denied the impact of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua in the Mt Kenya area, asserting that his political endorsement relies mainly on fellow-feeling votes and ethnic support.

Speaking on a local television outlet on Monday, November 10, 2025, Ngunjiri mentioned that while Gachagua does command adherents, his sway is not as extensive as frequently believed.

“Gachagua is not powerful. What I can state is he possesses two elements: he obtained in Central is empathy votes and backing from the tribal area. I cannot claim he lacks supporters; he does, but it is mainly due to those aspects,” Ngunjiri remarked.

This follows a few months after Kimani Wambugu implored Mt Kenya electors to be cautious of sentiment-driven politics typified by empty rallying cries.

Via his Facebook portal on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, the forthright leader counseled that the area ought instead to concentrate on what it stands to secure from whichever administration is operating, whether it serves a single term or two terms.

“The most vital aspect Mt Kenya must deliberate upon is what we shall acquire from the authority, whether WanTam or TuTam. As ultimately it will still depart. But what we gain remains with us, past WanTam or TuTam,” Wambugu declared.

Plea for measured exchanges
Wambugu contended that the populace of Mt Kenya must progress past slogans and political catchphrases when establishing their share in national governance.

He stressed that the region’s attention ought to be on concrete advantages such as infrastructure progress, monetary strengthening, and equitable resource allocation, not the emotional solicitations of politicians.

In his view, such a change in viewpoint would protect the area’s lasting pursuits irrespective of which political grouping commands the State House.

He further noted that authority shifts in Kenya have perpetually been transient, but advantages secured in the form of schemes or treasury allocations endure.

The communication was understood as an indirect caution against the escalating commentary within Mt Kenya political circles, where groups persist in dividing inhabitants with chants like WanTam (One Term) and TuTam (Two Terms).

These sayings have gotten momentum amidst discussions concerning Ruto’s 2027 reelection pursuit and the political arrangement of previous Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
