A cloud of mystery envelops the tragic death of a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier, whose body was discovered inside her locked home in Juja, Kiambu County.
The 44-year-old soldier, identified as Elizabeth Wanjiru and stationed at the Department of Defence headquarters, was found unresponsive after relatives forced entry into her residence due to her failure to answer calls.
Her lifeless body rested on a sofa, surrounded by a pool of blood, with evident signs of electrocution on her face. The door had been secured from the inside, prompting investigators to piece together the circumstances surrounding her death.
In response, police and military officials have initiated a collaborative investigation into the incident. The body has been transported to the Defence Forces Memorial Hospital Mashujaa Funeral Home, where a postmortem examination is pending.
In a separate incident in Muhoroni, Kisumu County, a 29-year-old woman named Sylivia Atieno lost her life after sustaining a stab wound during a confrontation.
She was rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. Bystanders apprehended the attacker, who was subsequently rescued by police from a mob before sustaining further harm.
Currently, the suspect is receiving medical care under police supervision and is expected to face questioning before being formally charged with murder. Authorities remain uncertain about the factors leading to this violent altercation.

Meanwhile, in Sagana, Kirinyaga County, law enforcement agencies are investigating the death of 77-year-old Margret Wambui Nyoike, whose body was discovered in her home.
The door to her residence stood wide open, and her body lay on the floor, displaying indications of strangulation. A scarf was tightly bound around her neck, and a footprint was visible on her chest.
Authorities reported that the elderly woman lived alone, and efforts to locate her family members are ongoing.
Her body has been moved to the mortuary as investigations into the murder continue.
