President Yoweri Museveni’s son Muhoozi Kainerugaba has declared that he will run for the Presidency of Uganda in 2026.
Muhoozi said he has waited for so long to be president and that he cannot wait anymore.
Mohoozi said on Wednesday that Prime Ministers of the United Kingdom and Finland are aged 42 and 37 years old, while he is almost 50 and still waiting to become head of state. “The Prime Minister of the UK is 42 years old, and the Prime Minister of Finland is 37 years. Some of us are hitting 50 years old. We are tired of waiting forever. We will take a stand!” Muhoozi tweeted.
Uganda will go to the polls in 2026 to elect a new president to take over from Yoweri Museveni who has rule Uganda since 1986. General Muhoozi said in October last year that he was the country’s next President-designate and warned the opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine that he would never lead the country upon his father’s retirement. “To the Ugandan opposition, after my father, I will defeat you badly in any election. Ugandans love me more than they’ll ever love you,” he said.
