Mudavadi Begins France Visit With High-Level Talks

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has launched an official visit to France with a series of senior-level engagements aimed at strengthening Kenya’s diplomatic agenda ahead of the Africa–France Summit. The meetings brought together officials from Kenya’s Embassy in Paris and the Permanent Delegation to UNESCO, focusing on aligning priorities and sharpening key outcomes for the upcoming summit.

The discussions were led by Ambassador Jane Lusenaka, Kenya’s Deputy Ambassador and Chargé d’Affaires in Paris, alongside Ambassador Prof. Peter Ngure, Kenya’s Permanent Delegate to UNESCO. Mudavadi said the talks concentrated on refining deliverables, finalising critical actions, and ensuring Kenya presents a clear and coordinated position during both bilateral and multilateral engagements.

The Africa–France Summit is expected to convene African leaders and their French counterparts to address cooperation in development, security, climate action, and global governance. Mudavadi noted that the early engagements in Paris were designed to ensure Kenya enters the summit well-prepared and strategically aligned.

In a statement, the Prime CS said the discussions reinforced Kenya’s commitment to advancing its national interests with clarity and purpose on the global stage. He emphasised that France remains a key partner, particularly in trade, investment, education, culture, climate action, and multilateral diplomacy.

Mudavadi, who also serves as Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, said the visit reflects Kenya’s broader efforts to deepen its influence in international forums and strengthen its voice on peace, security, sustainable development, and climate financing.

Kenya has increasingly played an active role in multilateral diplomacy through engagements at the United Nations and other global institutions. The Africa–France Summit is expected to offer a platform to reset Africa–Europe relations, expand economic cooperation, and address shared challenges such as climate change, security risks, and global economic instability.

During the visit, Mudavadi is scheduled to hold additional meetings with French government officials, development partners, and representatives of international organisations. These engagements are aimed at reinforcing bilateral ties and positioning Kenya as a reliable regional and global partner.

He added that the outcomes of the Paris talks will guide Kenya’s approach to upcoming high-level meetings and ensure the country enters the Africa–France Summit with a unified strategy and clearly defined objectives.
