Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza impeached

The embattled Meru governor Kawira Mwangaza has been impeached by members of the Meru County Assembly. The Governor was unanimously impeached for gross violation of the constitution for hiring her husband to a public of office.

Earlier, the Members of the Meru County Assembly broke into song and dance outside the assembly ahead of the hearing of the impeachment motion against the governor.

The MCAs, dressed in black suits, white shirts and red ties, sang and danced to ‘Kaende Kaende,’ before walking into the assembly to pray ahead of the hearing.

Governor Mwangaza was set to appear before assembly for the hearing scheduled her Facebook page, writing: “Galatians 6:9 NIV Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. #merumustbehappy#serikaliyamamaikoimara.”

The Meru MCAs tabled a fresh motion last week seeking to eject her, after the High Court last month quashed a previous motion to impeach her.
