Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala allegedly lost Ksh. 2 million to rowdy youths in the just ended Matungu by-elections.
The Senator accompanied by his supporters was heard in a video complaining posted online that his 2 million shillings was snatched away. In the video obtained by Nyanza Daily below, the Senator is heard wailing “THIS IS MY MONEY; YOU ARE STEALING FROM ME ; THIS IS MY MONEY; YOU ARE STEALING FROM ME” as unidentified people grab cash in a black polythene bag.
The Senator may have been a victim of angry opponents who accused the senator of engaging in voter bribery. Some were even heard shouting at the background, wondering what the ANC senator was carrying all that cash for.
In the highly contested by-elections, Malala was supporting the ANC candidate Peter Oscar Nabulindo against David Were of ODM, Alex Lanya of UDA, Charles Kasamani of UDP, Paul Achayo of MDG and Auma Faida of Maendeleo Chap Chap. See the video below;
