Lilian Nyambura Mbugua found alive after mysterious Disappearance

Lilian Nyambura Mbugua, a 28-year-old woman who went missing from her family’s home in Gikono, Kabati, Murang’a County on December 23, has been located alive. Her family confirmed that she was discovered at a filling station in Maragua Town, Murang’a, early Tuesday morning.

“She was weak and confused,” reported her uncle, George Njuguna. “She told the attendants at the filling station to call her mother.” Following her discovery, Lilian was taken to a nearby health center, where officials described her condition as “disturbed.” Her family is in communication with her employer, East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL) in Nairobi, and plans are underway to transport her for further medical evaluation.

A Mysterious Disappearance

Lilian had traveled to her mother’s home for the Christmas celebrations on December 21. The family enjoyed a joyous church service on December 22 and shared meals together on December 23. However, on that same day, around 5 p.m., Lilian stepped out of their gated compound, seemingly for an evening stroll. Her uncle previously explained, “It seemed like she had just gone for an ordinary walk around the estate, as she was still in her head scarf and slippers. Her mother was busy with house chores in the backyard.”

When Lilian did not return, her family grew worried. Attempts to contact her revealed that she had left both of her mobile phones at home. Additionally, her car, its keys, laptop, and keys to her Nairobi residence, along with all her identification documents, were also found at the family home. After waiting in vain, her family reported her missing to the Gikono police post on December 24. They also contacted the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kenol, which reported on December 28 that Lilian had made three phone calls on the evening prior to her disappearance.

Investigations Ongoing

On December 29, police indicated they had no significant leads regarding Ms. Mbugua’s whereabouts. The investigation has been challenging due to the absence of mobile devices that could be traced. Constable Patrick Maina of the Gikono police stated, “It is a hard inquiry because if we had a phone we could track or a known motor vehicle we could trace, it would be easier to narrow down our lines of investigation.”

As the investigation continues, her family remains hopeful for Lilian’s recovery and well-being.
