Kenya’s decisive 3-0 victory over Grenada on Monday has significantly improved their FIFA ranking, propelling them ahead of their East African rivals, Tanzania.
This impressive win against the Caribbean team has positively influenced Kenya’s FIFA ranking in the latest update. The Harambee Stars concluded their FIFA Series campaign with a strong performance, securing third place in the four-team tournament, thanks to goals from Austin Odhiambo, Ryan Ogam, and Zech Obiero.
Previously, Kenya faced a setback with a narrow penalty shootout loss to Estonia, ending 5-4 after a 1-1 draw in regular time. However, this defeat had minimal impact on their FIFA ranking, costing them just 0.54 points. In contrast, the victory over Grenada earned them an additional 3.23 points, raising their total to 1,182.23.
As a result, Kenya climbed two places in the global rankings, now sitting at 111, up from 113 before the FIFA Series, marking a positive outcome from their recent matches in Kigali, Rwanda.
Meanwhile, Estonia, who lost the final 2-0 to Rwanda, maintained their position at 129. Rwanda advanced two spots to 128 after winning the FIFA Series and defeating Grenada 4-0. Despite their losses, Grenada moved up one position to 163.
In the global landscape, Spain has ceded their top ranking to France, now in second place, while Argentina, England, Portugal, Brazil, the Netherlands, Morocco, Belgium, and Germany round out the top ten.
Morocco leads the African nations, followed by Senegal at 14th globally, Nigeria at 26th, Algeria at 28th, and Egypt at 29th, completing the top five.
In East Africa, Uganda holds the top position at 88, followed by Kenya at 111 and Tanzania, now in 113 after dropping three places due to their recent 1-0 loss to Liechtenstein, which cost them 8.15 points.
