Nominated MP Joseph Wainaina Iraya sharply criticized Democracy For Citizens Party leader Rigathi Gachagua. He accused him of trying to sell the community politically to Kalonzo Musyoka.
Wainaina spoke in Eldoret on Wednesday, December 24, 2025. As a Kenya Kwanza ally, he warned against Gachagua’s style of politics. He called it harmful to everyone.
“I warn our community, spread across the country. Do not follow politics that hurts our kids or anyone. One person cannot lead us wrong,” he said.
We will not be sold off!
Wainaina spoke straight to Gachagua. He rejected their new United Opposition Alliance with Kalonzo. He opposed plans to hand the community to Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
“My word to Gachagua: We will not get auctioned like goats to Kalonzo. That will not happen,” he added.
Wainaina also blamed Gachagua for turning his personal issues into a community burden.
“Face your own problems. Do not hide behind the people or the whole community,” he stated.
These words follow Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa’s comments. Barasa weighed in on the Gachagua-Kalonzo link. It may form a coalition for 2027 elections.
Barasa said Gachagua eyes 2032. He backs Kalonzo now to gain Kamba votes later. Their odds against President William Ruto in 2027 look slim.
Gachagua wants to show unity. He hopes for Kamba support in return. Barasa claims Gachagua plots to win Kamba votes for his 2032 presidential bid. He knows Ruto will beat Kalonzo in 2027.
