National Assembly Leader of Majority Kimani Ichung’wah has made explosive claims linking the recent surge in abductions to impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Speaking during the burial of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula’s mother, Maayi Nanyama, on Friday, Ichung’wah accused Gachagua of facilitating the kidnappings while shifting the blame onto President William Ruto.
The Kikuyu MP’s remarks came in response to Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, who had criticized the government for its failure to address the ongoing disappearances of youths. Ichung’wah defended fellow politician Francis Atwoli and challenged Natembeya, urging him to report the names of the alleged abductors to the relevant investigative agencies.
“Abductions are real, Governor Natembeya. If you know who is behind these acts, you have been a Regional Commissioner. Provide information to the DCI so they can investigate those responsible,” Ichung’wah stated. He further admonished Natembeya for disrespecting Wetangula’s family during the mourning period, emphasizing the need for respect among colleagues.
“Respect the Speaker. If Tim is your friend, he is Wetangula’s brother. Show respect, and we will respect you back!” he added.
Ichung’wah’s comments highlight the growing tensions among political leaders as issues of safety and accountability continue to dominate public discourse.
