Go For Peace: Oburu Tells Gachagua After Olkalau Election Win

ODM party leader Oburu Odinga encourages former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to embrace peace and move forward after his recent electoral victory. He emphasizes that there is no need for a confrontational stance following a win.

During a public address, Oburu highlights the incongruity of Gachagua’s combative demeanor despite his success in the polls. He asserts that the election has concluded, and the results should dispel any notions of vote manipulation.

Oburu points out, “When you see Gachagua, he often appears confrontational, as if something has gone awry. However, he has won the election and deserves congratulations.”

He acknowledges Gachagua’s previous concerns about potential electoral theft but asserts that the final results have proven otherwise. This victory should bolster confidence in Kenya’s electoral integrity.

“Gachagua seems to still harbor resentment over the idea that the election was to be stolen. Stolen by whom?” Oburu questions. “You have triumphed, and the IEBC has demonstrated its capacity to conduct elections with independence and impartiality.”

The ODM leader commends the successful execution of the by-election as evidence of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission’s ability to oversee a credible electoral process. He urges all political leaders to respect this outcome and refrain from rhetoric that could escalate political tensions.

Emphasizing the importance of national unity, Oburu states that Kenya needs cohesion rather than ongoing political strife. He appeals to leaders from all political backgrounds to lower the political temperature and prioritize peace for the nation’s benefit.

“We require unity and peace; we don’t want our friends to remain upset all the time,” he asserts, stressing that there is no justification for maintaining a campaign mindset after the election results are in.

In closing, Oburu delivers a clear message to Gachagua: “The election is over. Gachagua, prioritize your peace.”
