Gersthofen Youth Orchestra Honors Raila Odinga in Bondo

Gersthofen Youth Orchestra from Germany made a touching tribute visit to Kang’o Ka Jaramogi in honour of the Late Right Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, before paying homage to Mama Ida Odinga at her Opoda Farm in Bondo. The visit has been described as one of the most moving gestures since the passing of Baba.

The Orchestra, led by the Mayor of Gersthofen Michael Worle, is in Kenya for a cultural and development tour with the County Government of Kisumu, under a Strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in November 2024. The partnership focuses on mutual growth and collaboration in areas such as culture, education, and water development.

The visit to Kang’o Ka Jaramogi and Opoda Farm was organized by my office through the Departments of Culture represented by CECM Beatrice Odongo, Water represented by CECM Judith Oluoch and Education in Kisumu County, which are jointly implementing the Gersthofen–Kisumu County Strategic MoU.

As part of their itinerary, the Gersthofen Youth Orchestra will today, Wednesday, 5th November, host a free live concert at the Mama Grace Onyango Social Hall starting from 12:30 p.m., following the commissioning of a German Language Corner at the Kisumu Public Library.

Tomorrow, Thursday, 6th November, the team is scheduled to visit a water project site in Chulaimbo, further strengthening the cooperation between the two regions.
