Househelp Vanishes with Gun and Cash in Kileleshwa

Detectives in Nairobi are investigating a shocking incident in which a househelp allegedly disappeared with her employer’s firearm, ammunition, and other valuables in Kileleshwa.

According to a police report, the woman took advantage of her employer’s absence on Monday, November 3, 2025, to steal a portable safe from the bedroom wardrobe. The safe reportedly contained a Glock pistol with 40 bullets, two magazines, USD 1,950, 600 Euros, Sh5,000, assorted jewelry, land title deeds, and several electronic items.

The homeowner, a licensed firearm holder, told police that he had left home with his family for errands. When they returned, they found the safe missing. CCTV footage showed the househelp walking out of the compound carrying a carton believed to contain the safe. Security guards on duty said they did not raise any alarm as they assumed she had been sent on an errand by her employer.

Nairobi Police Commander George Seda confirmed the incident, adding that detectives are pursuing leads to trace the suspect and recover the stolen firearm and valuables. He noted that there are fears the weapon could be sold or used for criminal activities if not recovered soon.

In a separate case, police in Bondo, Siaya County, have launched investigations into a violent robbery where four armed men attacked a couple at their home and made away with gold valued at Sh90,000, cash, and mobile phones. The gang is said to have escaped in a waiting car after assaulting the victims.

Meanwhile, in Nyatike, Migori County, police are searching for two brothers accused of fatally assaulting their sibling, 26-year-old Oduor Opiyo, during a domestic dispute.

Elsewhere in Murang’a, a 53-year-old inmate at Maranjau GK Prison died while being rushed to hospital after complaining of severe stomach pains.
