Former US president Donald Trump was on Thursday found guilty of committing a serious crime prior to the 2016 general elections.
The grand jury in New York which began in January indicted Donald Trump after they were furnished with irrefutable evidence from a number of witnesses that a crime was committed.
The jury established that Donald Trump paid ex-porn star Stormy Daniels to the tune of 130,000 dollars in a bid to buy her silence during the 2016 election campaigns. Stormy claimed that she had a nasty encounter with the ex-president some years back.
According to Trump’s personal lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen, he coordinated with the former head of state on the payments to Stormy Daniels, and to a second woman, former playboy model Karen McDougal.
Trump has denied any wrongdoing, maintaining that the payment was to protect his image from a potential false accusation. However, the specific charges are yet to be known and will be revealed soon.
