Former Parliamentarians to earn 100k monthly

The National Assembly has passed a controversial bill that will see former legislators earn a whooping 100k for seating at home.

The amendment was proposed by Suba South member of parliament Hon. John Mbadi who also doubles as the minority leader. In his argument, Mr. Mbadi claimed that there was need to cushion former legislators from earning peanuts as pensions which has been the case.

He further added that Kenyans will not feel much burden after doing away with the clause that was seeking to backdate the payments to 2010.The bill was defended by most MPs and urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to sign it into law.

“When you look at some of these former MPs, when you see their shoes you sympathize with them so we must support the bill because any of us could be former MP anytime,” said Junnet Mohammed.

However on his side, the former majority leader and Garissa town legislator Hon. Aden Duale advised members of parliament to proceed with precaution to avoid being at loggerheads with the public.
