Police are investigating two separate incidents in Migori county where two people we assaulted with gun wielding attackers.
In the first incident, a 12-year-old girl was short when she was sleeping inside their house in Sare Estate, Awendo town. The girl, whose identity information still not clear, is said to have been attached in the wee hours of the night by an unknown people when her father was fast asleep.
Upon questioning, her father said that he was awoken by several gun shots, and screams by his daughter, that rented the air. A cursory observation revealed that six bullet holes were found on the door.
Five spent cartridges and bullet heads were found at the scene of the incident.
The motive behind the shooting is still not known. The girl was taken to the hospital where she is currently recieving medication. Doctors confirmed that she’s in stable condition.
In a separate incident, gunmen assaulted a motorist in the Kitere area on Saturday night. The motorist narrated that his car was blocked by another car, a double cabin. The people onboard — four men —the alighted and then descended on him with walking sticks. The attackers fired in the air to disperse onlookers who had started to mill around.
The victim said that his attackers told him that he has been a nuisance to people in the society, and that’s what informed the action they took against him.
Police recovered a 9mm cartridge at the scene, which has been sent for ballistic analysis.
The motorist was treated at a local hospital and discharged in stable condition.
Police say investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
