Drone sightings spark panic and conspiracy theories along US East Coast

In recent weeks, scores of drone sightings along the eastern coast of the United States have ignited widespread concern and speculation, leading to a flurry of conspiracy theories.

Observers have reported these unusual aerial vehicles primarily in New Jersey, with claims ranging from secret government operations to potential foreign espionage.

President-elect Donald Trump has weighed in on the situation, suggesting—without providing any evidence—that the outgoing administration is concealing information related to the sightings. As the frenzy grows, local officials in New Jersey are desperately seeking answers to quell public anxiety.

Numerous witnesses have described spotting drones in various locations across New Jersey, including residential neighborhoods, near military research facilities, over railway stations, and even above one of Trump’s golf courses. This wave of reports has not only been confined to New Jersey; there have also been sightings at a US military base in Germany, indicating a broader trend.

The FBI has set up a hotline specifically for drone sightings, receiving around 5,000 tips to date. However, officials have stated that fewer than 100 of these reports have been deemed worthy of further investigation. The Department of Homeland Security has also reassured the public, asserting that there is currently no evidence to suggest a threat to public safety.

As the investigation continues, the public remains on high alert, with many calling for greater transparency and answers regarding the identity and intent of the mysterious drones. The situation highlights the growing concern over aerial surveillance and privacy issues, as well as the potential for misinformation to spread rapidly in the age of social media.
