Detectives in Taita Taveta County have initiated investigations following the discovery of a man’s body beneath a bridge in Mwatate Subcounty.
On Friday morning, authorities found the body of Christopher Kadari, approximately 50 years old, under a bridge at Singila Village along the Voi–Taveta Highway. Upon inspection, police noted that the body had been partially covered with mud, and the deceased’s hands were tied across his chest with a rope, revealing a deep cut on his right heel.
Crime scene investigators meticulously processed the area before transferring the body to the Moi County Referral Hospital–Voi mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination. Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Mwatate have taken charge of the case, actively pursuing leads to uncover the circumstances of the killing and identify those responsible.
In a separate incident, police in Machakos County are investigating the tragic drowning of a 70-year-old man at Masinga Dam in Ndithini Subcounty. A local resident reported the incident on Friday morning after the body was retrieved from the dam’s shores.
The deceased, identified as Joseph Ndolo Kasyoki, reportedly drowned on Thursday evening around 6:45 PM while attempting to cross the dam. Preliminary investigations suggest that he slipped into the water. A physical examination of his body showed no visible external injuries. The body has been taken to Daniel Comboni Mission Mortuary, accompanied by the deceased’s son, where it will await a post-mortem examination. Police have classified the incident as a drowning and are diligently continuing their investigations to clarify the circumstances surrounding this tragedy.
Meanwhile, police in Nyandarua County have launched an investigation into the death of a man who allegedly succumbed to injuries from an assault by unknown individuals in Ol Kalou during the recent mini polls.
A report was filed at Ol Kalou Police Station on Friday morning by a man who stated that his son, James Mwigai Mwathi, was attacked along Mumbi Road on Thursday, July 16. Authorities rushed the victim to JM Hospital for treatment, but he tragically passed away while receiving care. A police team visited the scene and later examined the body at JM Mortuary, where no visible external injuries were found. However, blood was observed oozing from his mouth and nose. The body is currently preserved at the mortuary pending a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Investigations are actively ongoing as detectives strive to identify and apprehend those responsible for the alleged assault. Despite initial denials from police regarding casualties during the electoral chaos, the situation has prompted urgent calls for accountability.
