Meet Mr. Abubakar Mohamed Adan, a young man who has achieved a lot in his youthful life.Aged only 23, Mr. Abubakar has managed to involve himself in many activities both at the National level, County level, institutional level and many others.
Adan pursued his Diploma in Business Management at Umma University located in Kajiado County then commenced his degree at Catholic University of Eastern Africa where he is currently undertaking Bachelor of Arts in Development Studies.He became passionate about peace , community engagement and human right affairs in 2015 when Garissa university was attacked.Mr. Adan is also endowed with basic human skills such as teamwork, management skills, problem solving skills,time management, good communication skills, strong Facilitation and training skills
Coming from a pastoral background, Mr. Mohamed Abubakar is currently working closely with the Pastoral Girls Initiative on Cash Transfer Program.While here, he has helped the organization grow in various capacities.For instance, he has managed to map households in some sub counties and issued them with humanitarian help based on their needs.Recently, they managed to donate Covid-19 response items to Garissa Prisoners in a bid to help them fight this pandemic.The items included food, masks, soaps and sanitizers.He also handed the same assortments to the Garissa County Government on behalf of the organization.
He has also worked with Equal Access International East Africa as a Listening Discuss Advisory Group Panelist.Also, he worked with Perspective Media Group as a social media peace influencer where he managed to accomplish a number of things such as eradicating violent extremism in Garissa County.It should be noted that Mr. Adan was part and parcel of the Garissa County Peace Elders Committee (GCPEC) Organization with the role of a facilitator.Under his leadership, they managed to train over 1,000 youths to advocate for peace which saw him ranked the most hardworking staff in 2019.
Being an aggressive youth, he has also gotten an opportunity to participate in Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) that was launched by the former United States President Barrack Obama.Other conferences that he has participated in include the ones organized by the Red Cross, UNICEF,Garissa Youth Muslim Organization(GYMO), YADEN East Africa and many more.He has also gotten an opportunity to do publications and attend Media Interviews with the country’s mainstream media such as NTV, KTN and Citizen TV. At some point he was published on Daily Nation at the age of 22 as a peace advocate and young change maker in Kenya.
From the above, it goes without an iota of doubt that Abubakar is seen as the face of the youths and their role model in North Eastern and Kenya at large working directly with all sorts of local youth programs.Asked about his future plans and ambitions, Mr. Adan stated that he aspires to be the World’s Youngest UN Secretary General.Currently, he interacts with international organizations in Kenya such as the Global Peace Foundation.
As a humanitarian person, his plan is to leave a legacy in the world by building the largest humanitarian centre to help the less fortunate kids more so to educate orphans and support the livelihood of the communities.
