Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has been officially recognized as the spokesperson for the Mt. Kenya region, with elders ceremoniously presenting him with instruments of authority.
This significant event took place on Saturday at Kirigiti Stadium in Kiambu County, where a Solemn Assembly of Mt. Kenya elders gathered.
The elders reaffirmed their dedication to fostering unity among the diverse communities in the region.
They collectively agreed that the Mt. Kenya region should remain cohesive, firmly rejecting any proposals to divide it into separate political factions.
As a symbol of this unity, three reconciliation goats were shared, representing the Gikuyu, Embu, and Meru communities.
Additionally, the elders returned an axe to their council, a powerful gesture signaling the conclusion of efforts to fragment the mountain.
This gathering is particularly timely, given the ongoing political discussions surrounding the region’s leadership and future as we approach the 2027 General Election.
