Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has publicly accused Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya of undermining the Linda Mwananchi movement, leading to the current turmoil within the opposition formation.
In an interview broadcast on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, Amisi, the dynamic leader of the People’s Renaissance Movement (PRM), emphasized that those who joined the Linda Mwananchi movement after its inception, without grasping its foundational principles and purpose, are straying from its mission for personal political gain.
Amisi asserted that Natembeya, upon realizing the stagnation of his TAWE movement, sought to infiltrate Linda Mwananchi and attempt to take control of it.
Regarding the origins of Linda Mwananchi, Amisi, who claims to have established the Kenya Moja Movement as a precursor, shared that the initial meeting took place at his home in Lukhome, Trans Nzoia. He expressed disappointment that Natembeya declined his invitation to this foundational meeting.
Amisi remarked, “It’s important for Sifuna to recognize those who joined the meeting late, such as Natembeya. His disruptive actions are evident. Orengo was not part of the Lukhome declaration either. I invited Natembeya to Lukhome; he declined. Now, he seeks to benefit from Linda Mwananchi’s success after the TAWE movement has faltered. These individuals are jeopardizing our movement.”
Additionally, Amisi criticized Siaya Governor James Orengo, suggesting he contributes to the fractures within the Edwin Sifuna-led formation.
This situation unfolds amid ongoing disputes within the Linda Mwananchi movement regarding the political party to support in the lead-up to the 2027 General Election. Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has proposed his political vehicle, which he claims predated Linda Mwananchi. Although the group initially agreed to support his party, Natembeya’s recent involvement has led him to introduce another party, the Ukombozi Peoples Party, leaving Babu Owino perplexed about the shift away from their prior agreement.
As a result, Babu Owino announced his intention to support Sifuna for the presidency while opting out of Linda Mwananchi rallies to concentrate on his bid for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat.
In a counter-response, Bumula Member of Parliament Jack Wamboka defended Natembeya against Amisi’s allegations, suggesting that Amisi himself may be a disruptor within the Linda Mwananchi movement, which led to his dismissal. Wamboka questioned why Amisi faced no challenges in registering his party, while Linda Mwananchi encountered significant obstacles in establishing its political presence, implying that Amisi may be collaborating with the current administration to undermine the opposition.
