Two Indian nationals, who arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), have been successfully rescued following their alleged kidnapping. Authorities arrested three Pakistani nationals suspected of holding them captive.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported that this swift rescue resulted from a targeted intelligence-led operation conducted by the detectives from the Operation Support Unit (OSU).
Investigations revealed that the victims landed at JKIA on August 10, 2026, and cleared immigration around 2:50 PM. Shortly thereafter, they were met by two men, and all four individuals departed together in a white Nissan Note.
The alarming report of their kidnapping prompted immediate investigations, with detectives diligently following critical leads that ultimately directed them to a bungalow in Tumaini Estate, Nkoroi, on the outskirts of Rongai in Kajiado South.
Upon searching the premises, detectives found the two missing Indian nationals confined in one of the bedrooms, visibly distressed and bound at the hands and legs.
The DCI confirmed that the three Pakistani nationals found at the location were promptly arrested. Further inquiries revealed that the suspects had contacted the victims’ family members in India via WhatsApp, demanding a ransom of USD 32,000 for their release.
The investigation also led detectives to discover the victims’ mobile phones hidden in a thicket about two kilometers from the house.
Currently, the three suspects remain in custody, undergoing processing pending their arraignment. Detectives continue to piece together the details surrounding the kidnapping while pursuing additional leads related to a suspected kidnapping-for-ransom network.
Under Kenyan law, kidnapping and abduction are serious criminal offenses that carry significant prison sentences depending on the specific circumstances involved.
