Top Events Today: Duale Internship Posting and Key Court Cases

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale will take the lead today in officially posting the 2026-27 internship cohort for health professionals.

This important event will occur at Afya House in Nairobi, starting at 7 am, and it signifies the deployment of newly qualified health workers to various internship stations nationwide.

This annual placement program plays a crucial role in helping medical graduates transition into professional practice while also bolstering staffing levels within the health sector.

In the Kahawa West land dispute, the Milimani Environment and Land Court is poised to announce a ruling regarding the ownership of government land in the Kahawa West Jua Kali area.

The case involves Gerald Chege Gitau and two co-defendants against Gatundu & Mangu Farm Company and five others concerning L.R No. 8569/5, a parcel claimed to belong to the government.

This ruling will be pivotal in determining the next steps in this long-standing dispute.

Across the country, several corruption and economic crime cases are set to be heard in various courts.

In Nyahururu, the Anti-Corruption Court will continue its proceedings on a case involving Arnold Karani Njiru and four others, who face allegations of misappropriating Sh14.8 million linked to a project under the Laikipia East NG-CDF.

This matter is scheduled to unfold over two days.

In Eldoret, the court will address a case involving the former principal of Chebororwa Agricultural Training Centre and four others, accused of offenses related to the alleged fraudulent withdrawal of Sh11.4 million belonging to the institution.

At the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court, proceedings will commence in a conflict of interest case involving former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and another accused individual concerning a Sh10 million revenue collection services contract.

This case is set to continue until July 2.

The Milimani Environment and Land Court will hear a suit filed by Scorpion Properties, which seeks the recovery of a fire station in Gigiri on behalf of the former Nairobi City Council.

Additionally, the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court will mention a suit aimed at canceling a Sh995 million tender and recovering Sh220.4 million allegedly paid as an advance to a contractor.

Another matter slated for mention involves a recovery suit seeking Sh63.7 million that the Kiambu county government paid to Filtronic International Limited under contracts that are alleged to be fraudulent and illegal.
